When I started my first side hustle 14 years ago (selling online via eBay), I had no idea what I was doing, I just jumped in.
Now, there are many excellent blogs out there covering every side hustle imaginable. And, you can get tips and tricks to help get your side hustle off to an awesome start and make extra money almost immediately.
I still make extra money by selling online, on both eBay and Etsy, and will be launching a new retail site in April. Plus, I manage a couple of blogs and do a bit of freelance writing. All I do now, is side hustle.

The Penny Hoarder, by Kyle Taylor, has a huge catalogue of posts specifically about making extra money: from home; online;offline and; how to get started. The Penny Hoarder gives you actual examples, real people who are making extra money and turning their side hustle dreams into reality.
Nick Loper is the founder of Side Hustle Nation. And, as the name of the blog suggests, it is dedicated to showing you how to make money on the side. Nick is passionate about side hustles and puts together an amazing variety of side hustle posts.
Nick also has a podcast where he interviews successful side hustlers so we can all understand how and why they started, and what the did to make their side hustle successful. You can listen to Nick’s podcast here – Side Hustle Nation.
Ramit Sethi, the founder of I Will Teach You To Be Rich, is the author of the book by the same name. He’s an incredibly successful blogger, too. Ramit’s site has a wealth of useful information about why and how to start earning extra money. Take a look, I guarantee you won’t be disappointed. I can also recommend reading his book, I Will Teach You To Be Rich.
Budgets Are Sexy by J. Money is a personal finance blog and covers both saving money and making money. The Budgets Are Sexy side hustle page links to over 60 posts specifically about side hustles. You’ll find information on everything from flipping classic video games to voice over actor. If you’re struggling to find an idea that resonates with your personal goals, talents and values, you’re bound to find inspiration here.
Angie Nelson created The Work At Home Wife blog. It’s dedicated to providing ideas for building a home business. If you want start a successful ‘work-from-home’ business, The Work At Home Wife is the site for you. You’ll find a vast selection of work from home ideas that are eminently suitable for stay at home mums, too.
Michelle Schroeder-Gardner is still in her 20’s but she already making nearly a million dollars a year from the blog, Making Sense of Cents, she started as a side hustle. I’d say that’s proof in the pudding!
Michelle now travels full-time in an RV with her husband and dogs, while still making an incredible living online. Looking for ideas for making extra money or just some inspiration to get you started? Making Sense of Cents is the site to visit.
Melyssa’s site is the perfect place to learn how to create an online side hustle you can turn into a full-time business. It’s jam-packed with inspiration, information and lots of free training to get you started and keep you motivated. Melyssa’s income reports prove she knows what she’s talking about.
Melyssa also facilitates a facebook group I highly recommend to anyone who’s serious about their online side hustle.
The Work at Home Woman is dedicated to helping women find legitimate work from home jobs, and was founded by Holly Hanna. If you’re a stay at home mum, or want to be, you’ll find what you need here. It has all kinds of resources for you to explore, including over 100 ideas for women to make extra money from home.
Endless ideas for making extra money
Once you start looking, you’ll see there are endless ideas for making extra money. Don’t wait until necessity forces you to create new income streams, get out there and start now.
You can make money blogging or via online retail (my two side hustles of choice), or you can do something completely different. The sites listed here will help you discover what to do to earn extra money and how to get your plan off the ground. But, always remember, everyone starts at the beginning and while you might not get rich quick, you’ll make extra money and be building a better life.
